Korea is one of the most sought after destination of Filipinos to work. Aside from the promising salary, Korea is also famous in the Philippines because of Kpop and the Korean drama. The image of Korea shown in the media entices Filipinos to go to Korea and work. However, one must know that there is only very limited job market for foreigners in Korea. You have to compete with the Koreans who were trained and educated to obtain skills necessary and intended for Korean corporation. Learning the language alone is very challenging and yes, difficult. Language is one of the most important qualifications here in Korea, unless otherwise you'll teach English, the knowledge in Korean language is a must to get a job.
Hopeless as it may sounds. Korea is not completely burning bridges for foreigners who want to work in the country. There are several opportunities especially for Filipinos for the year 2015 and the upcoming years. This is a sign that Korea is becoming open to the idea of letting Filipinos to penetrate in their job market. As of now, there are limited opportunities but if you find yourself fit in the position, the next step would be to market yourself to Korean companies so you could pack your back and go to Korea and work.
As of this year, there are total of almost 50,000 Filipinos in Korea and there are a lot of undocumented stayers that are not included in that number. Now, let's look at the possible jobs that Filipinos can acquire in Korea for the year 2015.

1. Factory Worker
UPDATE: CLICK THIS LINK FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF POEA FOR KLT 13
Based on the statistics, most Filipinos are here in Korea to work as a Factory worker or in manufacturing industry. Through the program called Exam Permit System or EPS, foreigners including Filipinos can apply a job in the manufacturing industry. To apply as a factory worker, you must be between 18 and 38 years old, you should have no records of imprisonment for a heinous crime, no record of deportation or departure orders from Korea, must not be restricted from departure from Philippines, must be physically and mentally fit, at least a high school graduate and with a minimum work experience of 1 year.
How to apply as a Factory Worker in Korea?
You MUST ONLY apply at POEA or Philippine Overseas Employment Administration. You should not apply to any agency or any person for this. This is a direct agreement between Korea and Philippines so all transaction must be done right within POEA. If somebody or an agency is recruiting you for this, please double check. Wait for an announcement from POEA website for the Korean Language Test. There is no specific date for this, POEA announces this at any random dates within the year. Usually, they conduct KLT in the Philippines 2 to 3 times a year. You better watch out for the announcement, keep checking POEA website so you could register yourself.
Once you passed the Korean Language Test, POEA will further instruct you to provide requirements for the selection process. The total cost for job seekers from taking the language exam to your departure would be around 30, 000 pesos to 40, 000 pesos. The salary also depends on the number of hours you work in the company. For a minimum wage, salary may range from 35,000 pesos to 40,000 pesos. If you work overtime and you work hard enough, you may get up to 70,000 pesos salary as a factory worker.

2. Engineers
If you have the right skill and up for the competition, you may land on an engineering job here in Korea. There are a lot of good Korean engineers, but Korea is also open to Filipino engineers who are very exemplary in their field of expertise. In fact, there are several Filipino engineers here in Korea. According to the statistics, out of more than 50,000 Filipinos in Korea (including illegal stayers), there are 787 E-7 Visa holders or professionals working here and that includes the Filipino Engineers. It's very small compared to the more than 20,000 factory workers but still, it's a good sign that Filipino engineers are welcome to work in Korea, albeit tough and restricted. Needless to say that it needs a very remarkable skill to work as an engineer and Korea can still accept more workers in this field for the year 2015.
3. Arts and Performances
Filipino talents are being admired by Koreans. Singers, theatre actors and other skills in terms of arts and performances are very much welcome here in Korea. Korea is open for Filipino entertainers since then and it continues to welcome more and more entertainers as time goes by. So the year 2015 could be a good year for those who are into arts and performances. Usually, you can apply for this through agencies in the Philippines. Just always make sure that the agency is legal and credited by the POEA.
Other possible jobs for Filipinos in Korea for the year 2015 are Professors, Researchers, and household workers, but there could be a slim chance for these jobs for Filipinos as Korea prefers other foreign workers or their own native Koreans to take over the job. There are several Filipinos working in these fields but you can count them with your fingers, so this might not be a job market for Filipinos.
Korea is a beautiful country and it is possible to come here and work. You just have to improve yourself and update your skills to keep up with the competition. In the year 2015, Korea is planning to hire more Filipinos especially in the field of manufacturing because they like the handiwork of Filipinos and their attitude when it comes to work. Hoping for a bright future for Korea and for the Filipinos who will venture to find a job in the country.

ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if you have list or you know an agencies here in the Philippines where I can go?
I want to apply as a singer or a dancer..... Actually me and my 2 friends have plans in applying as a singer on a hotel in Korea. They told me that we are going directly to Korean embassy for screening. Then suddenly they just backed out. But I'm still willing to pursue my application...Is there anything you can suggest? Thank you Sir... I'm also willing to apply for factory worker position.... I just don't know what to do and where to go.... God bless Sir...
Hi Arwina, you better check with POEA if there are agencies offering jobs for Filipinos to work as singer or dancer in Korea. There is no any other safe way than to check it out with them,
DeleteAs per your desire to work as factory worker, girls have slim chance for that. Korea prefers boys to work in factory because of the nature of job.
good day sir, anong pwedeng pasukan na factory work ang isang gay at wala po bang discrimination sa mga gay workers?
ReplyDeleteHello, there's no gender discrimination here in Korea. For as long as you can handle the job well, it's not a problem.
DeleteMay chance po ba ang mga babae magka exam this year 2015 po? ??
ReplyDeleteHonestly, wala. Even during the KLT, they don't accept girls examinees.
DeleteSir, my number is 09067176557, my email is dasallarolando11@gmail.com. Applying as factory worker.
ReplyDeleteHi Rolando, no need to apply here. I am not authorized to accept any application for factory workers in korea. Please go to POEA and inquire for the next examination schedule because you can only apply for work here in Korea through POEA as a factory worker.
Deletebakit hindi pwede ang girls as a factory worker in Korea?another po ang pwedeng mapasukan ng girls sa Korea?tnx po.
ReplyDeleteDati po pwede. pero since last year, tinigil na po ang hiring for girls kasi panlalaki po ang nature of job
Deletehow to apply po?and any link? tahnk you
ReplyDeleteHello all... good news.. POEA is now accepting applicants for KLT 12 and that include girls na po. Go to poea.gov.ph and check the announcement for registration.
Deletesorry melanie but the registration is over. We still don't know

Thank you Sir!
DeleteI asked it coz I'm a transgender!
I had a working experiences as a production operator /factory worker for a couple of years.
Do I need to cut off my hair short and dress like a man to apply and get hired?
TIA Sir!
hello... depende siguro sa mapupuntahan mong company.. the process of hiring as a factory worker here is that once you passed the language test, you will be enlisted..your photo and your info will then be sent to HRD KOrea for selection In short, one of the impression na babasehan sa pagselect is your photo. Mas makakabuti siguro na you should dress and look like a man..tapos pg nandito ka na, saka mo oobserbahan kung ok lang ba sa company nyo that you will look like a girl..depende din siguro sa environment..I hope napanood mo yong link na naishare ko.. I am sure makakrelate ka dun
ReplyDeleteyes po.. you need to pass the Korean Language Test
ReplyDeletemeron sa Seoul, meron malapit sa Seoul at meron din malayo sa Seoul like Busan..In short, anywhere in Korea may factory kaya anywhere can be your destination..except sa North
ReplyDeleteUsually 3 years ang contract plus 1 year and 10 months kung gusto ka ng sajangnim mo. in total, 4 years and 10 months. As for the korean language, it depends on your area. Try to ask the TESDA office in your area if they offer Korean language class. If wala, you may need to enroll in private classes which costs more.
ReplyDeleteNo..no and no... hindi pwedeng maconvert into working visa ang tourist visa dito.. you need to go through proper channel to get a working visa. But in reality, ginagawa na ng iba yan.. yon nga lang, illegal sila dito..
Deletehelo sir, gandang gabi ask ko lang po kung gano po kadalasan or kelan po ba ulit ang exam for female, kasi gusto ko po magply jan at magwork balak ko na pong tapusin contrata ko dto sa hk as domestic helper pero..nabasa ko pong my nka sched na exam for female this 2015 pero hindi po ako nakauwi.. gusto ko po malaman if my chance po ako at maging updated para mapaghandaan ko ng maaga..salamat po
ReplyDeleteHello there..no exact date..minsan a month before they will announce na and they have pre registration din bukod pa dun sa actual registration talaga. usually, 2 to 3 times a years sila nagpapaexam at ang mga schedules na iyon ay iba iba..so we can't say the exact date talaga.. the best way is to check POEA website or join the facebook group Pinoy EPS in Korea kasi update ang mga tao dyan pag may exam sched.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/pinoyepsinkorea/?fref=ts
Deleteokey sir maraming salamat po...sya nga po pla pwede po pang mag online register kahit nasa hongkong pa ako tapos mag self study nalang dto at uuwi nalang ako before date of exam?wala po ba personal apearance interview bago exam?
Deleteyes...pre registration is online..no need personal appearance. It is during the actual registration na kelangan nandun ka kais ikaw ang magprocess nyan sa POEA>
I passed the exam na nagself study lang ako for one month. I used the power of internet.. Here are my tips on how to pass the exam with just self study:
Deletehttp://www.saranghaekorea.com/2013/04/3-ways-to-use-internet-to-help-you-pass.html
ha good day po sir saranghae ask q lng po f my bayad ang pag aral ng salita ng KLT at mag kano po lahat lahat gastusin sa requirements f matanggap po as factory jan sa korea sana po masagot mo tnx po
ReplyDeleteHello jomer..yes..may mga bayad ang klt classes.. i dont know kung free ang sa TESDA.. total amount na nagastos ko for processing noon is hindi tataas sa 30000 pesos
Deletesir tanung po ulit dapat po ba pag mag apply my visa na at passport narin po ab plzz reply sir saranghae
ReplyDeleteVisa no...passport yes.. kelangan may passport ka na during registration. .
Better wait for the next batch but we dn't know when.. abang abang ka lang po sa website ng POEA
Deletehi sir good day! is it possible ba na mahired pa din even if walang experience as factory worker pero naka pasa sa KLT sa POEA if ever.? Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteof course. pwedeng pwede. experience is not included in the lst of qualification.

ReplyDeletehi there.. you just need to take a Korean lnguage exam first. You need to inquire at POEA for this.
DeleteHi sir good day, aks ko lang po kung paano mag apply as factory worker sa korea? at ano po ang gagawin para maka join sa KLT ng POEA? Pls advice

DeleteGood day. Im taking 12th eps topik but im afraid wd my medical. Actualy i have lung scar caused ng ptb 3yrs ago. But i already undergone 6months medication. And im totaly fit and healthy now. You can show that kung sakaling questionin ang xray mo pagdating dito.
Hindi active.. ok kaya to sir? 2 films and clearance ang ipakita ko sa kanila para maprove na it is not active and infectious?
If you have proof na hindi naman sya infectious, then it's good to go..
DeleteGud day sir.ask klng po kng saan po pwede mag apply at saan po pwede register
ReplyDeletehi drizzle... huli ka na sa balita...kakatapos lang ng pre reg ng klt 12..yong mga nakapagpre reg lang ang pwede magparegister.. hintay ka na lang ng klt 13..if not at the end quarter of the year, baka next year, we just don't know.. just keep checking POEA website.
DeleteGood afternoon sir. I'm rose. I'm so sad right now. :(
ReplyDeletehi rose, it's sad to know that you're not included in the list. Have you double check it? Kung ereg lang po sa POEA website, it's not enough. Dapat mo nagparticipate ka dun sa survey na binigay ng POEA. last January, they conducted a survey and that survey serves as the pre reg. baka hindi ka po nakapag survey.
But sadly he's also not included in the list.
Delete-rose
Good Day Sir. Here is my registration # 201501-013852. Why I am not included in the list? Pls help me. I really want to go to korea. :(
Delete-rose
Hello Rose,
I don't want to break bad news but there's no other way na to be included. Just wait for the next survey.
Here are my two theories:
1. During the survey, you should have filled up your passport. Maybe the survey was not acknowledge kasi walang passport.
2. In the case of your cousin, I suspect, they have limits for the number of participants. Baka napasali sya dun sa limit,
The best way for you to clarify this matter is to call POEA at this:
POEA Hotlines:
722.11.44 / 722.11.55
try to ask lang maam.
Thank you very much for the response sir. I will wait nalang for the next survey. I will monitor nalang po yung website nyo at ng poea. I'm just hoping that they will accept again female participants. Sir pls do update or inform us if magpapasurvey na po ulit a week before the survey. Para po hindi rush minsan. Last time po kasi nung nakita ko yung survey, that
DeleteLast time po kasi nung nakita ko yung pasurvey ng poea, that's also the last day for female. Thank you again sir. Very much appreciated. :*
Delete-rose
Thank you so much.
ReplyDeletesame case po with ms rose.
ReplyDeletethey will provide a link kung saan po kayo mag fifill up ng survey. Make sure that during the survey may passport na po kayo para siguradong mapasali kayo sa list.
DeleteGud am po sir.Ask ko lang po may employer na po me as masseur im 40 yrs old need pa po ba na mag eps ako kya lng sa poea eps 38 yrs old lng pede paano po kaya yun?
ReplyDeleteEPS po is for obtaining E9 visa lang po yan..ibig pong sabhn for manufacturing jobs lang.. Masseur is not manufacturing, nasa specialized skill yan or prof..Hindi ko lang sure kung anong Visa but not E9. No need to take EPS po dahil iba po ang process nyan.
DeleteSlamat po sa reply. Good day po sir. Pls advice me po. Thank you po sir saranghae
Once you filled it up, you will be included sa list na pwede po magresiter. Ang hindi lang natin alam eh kung kelan magsusurvey ulit. kakatapos lang kasi ng KLT12 eh.. baka end of this year or early next year
DeleteGood to hear the ff. probablity for not been on the list, but how will they explain, some names listed where from 11klt, and dont even respond the survey!?otherwise errors on their system? As Ive known 100 plus, were not on the master list! Ako mismo, nag respond but not on the list....Maawa nman poea sa amin, it only happen twice year...

ReplyDeleteHi drizzle, I'm afraid there's no other way to work here than going through EPS or direct hiring. I am not even sure kung may mga agencies pa.
DeleteHi po, want to ask if POEA still accepting applicants in korea. Im interested po kasi thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Xian, yes po, but unfortunately, tapos na po ang registration for KLT12 . Wait for KLT13 na lang po, we don't know when, maybe this year or next year, depende sa demnd ng workers ng Korea.
DeleteMeanwhle, check my post on how to apply as factory worker:

@Saranghae Korea, hi thanks for the info but how will I know when is the next KLT13? Aside from the poea website? Is there any way. Thanks!
Deletehi xian, the only way to know is through POEA website. If you are active in fb, find a way to join groups related to filipino in korea kasi minsan may mga nagpopost din dun ng info. Search also a forum called Sulyapinoy... marami ka din malalaman dun
Delete@SaranghaeKorea thanks for the info again. I just want to ask if you have this kind of group in fb? Thanks!

ReplyDeletehindi po..limited lang talaga sa manufacturing ang E9..if you want you convert your visa into E7
Deletehi sir my training ba ng Korean language? or we need to know how to speak b4 applying?
ReplyDeleteread this http://www.saranghaekorea.com/2015/03/how-to-apply-as-factory-worker-in-korea.html
For as long as you will work properly and behave properly, safe ka dito.
ReplyDeleteany email address is pwede po as long as active at naoopen nyo.
Kasi po PWD ako and I use crutches but I can manage to work by my self and be independent . Graduate po ako ng BS.CpE and I'm a passer po ng TESDA NCII sa Computer Hardware Servicing at Consumer Electronics Servicing. Ano po ang age limit nila? Thank you po.
ReplyDeletehello..age limit po is 38... Ang work po dito sa korea is 3D, that means dirty, dangerous and demeaning. While some jobs can be done by differently abled individuals, ang magiging problema nyo dyan is ang medical, kasi the doctor will check you physically and they will have to conclude if fit to work or not. Alam mo naman pag physical exam lahat talga chinicheck and I doubt it kung papayagan ka ng doctor to work in a 3d type of jobs sa condition mo.
DeleteOk I understand... Thank you po.
GODBLESS :)
ReplyDeletehi sir, tourist visa is not allowed to work here in Korea. You need to go out of Korea first and change your visa to a working visa.
DeleteIf you are willing to work in a factory, this is the only way and the only legal process to get an E9 visa, check this link:
http://www.saranghaekorea.com/2015/03/how-to-apply-as-factory-worker-in-korea.html
DeleteIf your tita has the power to sponsor, then I guess sponsorship is the best way at isa pa, over age the rin po ang misis nyo.
hi! i'm a fresh grad and i just wanna ask if is it possible to work in Korea as a preschool/elementary teacher by sponsorship even if you don't have ant teaching experience?
ReplyDeleteHi Maine, I think you should have asked kung may mag iisponsor ba sa isang fresh elementary teacher graduate? Kung meron po kau nahanap na school to sponsor you, then it's ok. You need to get an E2 visa for that.
DeleteHowever, there's really discrimination at work here in korea. Usually, korea hires English teachers, if you are not an english teacher, you may have a slim chance to get a teaching job here in Korea. And one of their requirements for an English teacher is that he/she should be a native English speaker.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, thanks for your pang Maalala Mo kaya question.. hehe..
DeleteYes, you are right. If you go here as tourist visa and look for work, that's illegal. Although may mga factories na pianpatulan ang mga tourist visa applicants, there's no way na mapapalitan ang visa nyo into E9 Visa, you will stay tourist and illegal as long as you're working here in Korea. Tama ang desisyon mo to go through proper and legal channel.
So you need to wait for KLT 13. WHEN? We don't know. Baka next year or next next year.
Passing the KLT does not guarantee employment. Gaano katagal? months, years, or even days.
If you fail the test, you can take it again.

What if a month before matapos ung contract mo, nakahanap ka ng job sa ibang company..then is it possible na magbago ung visa mo?
ReplyDeleteit depends on what kind of job. Halimbawa pumunta ka dito na naka E9 Visa ka, ibig sabhn for factory worker, halimbawa one month na lang natitira sa Visa mo, I don't think may kukuha pa sayo na ibang factory dahil patapos na rin ang Visa mo, unless otherwise hindi mo pa nagagamit ang 1 year and 10 months extension ng E9 Visa, posible yon. pero kung other kind of jobs like for professionals, kelangan mo muna umuwi ng Pinas, ipaterminate ang contract mo and change it to E7 visa.
DeleteMagandang gabi po panu po mag apply as a female factory worker sa korea and anong work?galing na po ako korea pero E6 po ako, gusto ko po sana magfactory

ReplyDeletemadami po, but you have to go through the process and wait for you to be hired.
DeleteI have a filipina friend in Manila who wishes to work in Korea as a massage therapist. What work is available and how to progress the application
ReplyDeletefor that, I think yur friend must find n agency or a company that would help her. This is not the proper channel for her because this is only for factory worker.
