I always feel like in Mindanao, we are deprived of having entertaining themed parks like Enchanted Kingdom, Star City, and of course, Disneyland. I didn’t know we had our own themed park here, called Glorious Fantasyland.
Glorious Fantasyland is one of the stops if you avail yourself of the UNLIFUDAP tour in Dapitan. To say the least, it’s a place where kids and kids at heart would want to go. Entering this place feels like stepping into a whole new world. From the façade of the themed park, I knew we were in for a treat and a very unique experience.
The first place we visited was Snow World. From the name itself, you know this is where you get to experience snow. In all fairness, the texture of their snow is quite similar to real snow. The temperature in the area is below zero degrees, so we needed to wear winter clothes to survive.
Beware, though—it’s very slippery, and chances are you might bump into each other because the area is not that big. However, they limit the number of people allowed inside at any one time. For the experience, I must say it’s a good place to visit. You don’t need to go abroad to experience snow.
Another fantastic experience was watching their Fantasy show and parade. It’s a display of various talents and beauty. It’s so magical you’ll be hooked. There are fire dancing, aerial dancing, colorful costumes, and very attractive props. It’s a short play that showcases the dancing and acting prowess of the artists. The highlight of the show is a parade featuring different Kings and Queens from various parts of the world. It showcases not only the beauty and costumes but also aspects of their culture through dancing. Added to the attractions are the cute and friendly mascots of different animals and characters. This show is very child-friendly, and not only kids but also us adults enjoyed it.
There are also other attractions, such as the horror house. I thought that at my age, it wouldn’t affect me, but I was wrong. I screamed my heart out as those scary creatures started popping out of nowhere trying to scare us. Even though I knew they were just acting, I admit I was frightened throughout the tour of the horror house. It was the longest five minutes or so of my life.
After the horror house, I felt like I needed something wholesome and entertaining to cleanse my palate. Right next to the horror house is Lakbay Pilipinas. You get to ride a mini train that takes you to a cave-like structure displaying different tourist attractions in the Philippines from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. It was a delight to see these Philippine places, and we took pride in introducing them to the world because they not only represent the beauty of the Philippines but also our traditions and culture.
Aside from these three major attractions, there are also various rides to enjoy. From the kid-friendly carousel to the most extreme Zimmerman roller coaster ride, we chose the most extreme first since we are adrenaline junkies. I felt like my whole insides were going to come out as we twisted and turned upside down in the air. It was scary but fun. We also tried other extreme rides like the Vikings and more.
Unfortunately, it was almost 10 p.m., and the park needed to close. We didn’t manage to go on all the rides, but it was a great experience for all of us. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime and very memorable visit.
In conclusion, Glorious Fantasyland in Dapitan offers a unique and unforgettable experience for visitors in Mindanao. With its diverse attractions, including Snow World, captivating Fantasy shows, and thrilling rides like the Zimmerman roller coaster, it provides something for everyone—whether you're a thrill-seeker or a family looking for fun. The park’s dedication to showcasing Philippine culture through the Lakbay Pilipinas exhibit and the vibrant parade highlights its role as a top destination in the Philippines. For anyone seeking an exciting and memorable themed park experience close to home, Glorious Fantasyland is a must-visit gem in Dapitan.
