I’ve always been drawn to the mystical charm of Hinatuan’s Enchanted River. Having visited twice, I thought I had explored everything this enchanting place had to offer—until I discovered Sibadan Fish Cage and Resort. It’s just a short pump boat ride away from the Enchanted River, yet for some reason, I had never heard of it before. I was in for a delightful surprise.

A Scenic Journey Over Calm Waters

Since we arrived at the Enchanted River early in the morning, we had plenty of time to spare. So, on a whim, we decided to check out Sibadan Fish Cage and Resort, a well-known stop for tourists. Getting there was part of the adventure! For just ₱600, a pump boat (good for up to six people) took us on a quick yet scenic 15-minute ride across crystal-clear blue waters. The boat ride itself was a treat—calm waves, floating houses dotting the horizon, and breathtaking views of the coastal landscape. There was no fear of rough waters or technical mishaps, just pure enjoyment of nature’s beauty.

A Floating Restaurant and an Unexpected Adventure

As we approached, a unique floating structure greeted us—it was both a restaurant and a massive fish cage! We eagerly stepped onto the wooden deck, paid the ₱50 entrance fee, and took in the sight of giant fishes swimming freely in their enclosed sanctuary. The resort had built fishing nets around certain areas, allowing the fish to remain in their natural habitat while ensuring visitors could interact with them up close.

I was thrilled to see huge fishes swimming beneath us, but what really caught my attention were the massive stingrays. It was my first time seeing them up close, and to be honest, I felt a mix of excitement and intimidation. They looked so strange yet fascinating! When I bought a ₱50 bowl of sliced fish to feed them, they immediately swam toward me. At first, it was adorable, but the moment I felt their slimy, smooth skin, I couldn't help but shudder—it was a weird yet unforgettable experience!

For those who love the water, you can even swim with these gentle giants. The fishes are already used to humans and will happily swim around you, especially if they sense food. Just remember—respect the marine life and avoid harming them.

After all the excitement, we worked up quite an appetite. Luckily, Sibadan Fish Cage and Resort has a restaurant that serves freshly caught seafood. Whether you want a full meal or just a light snack, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Dining in the middle of the sea, with the sound of gentle waves surrounding us, was the perfect way to wrap up our visit.
