Filipinos in Korea, especially the EPS workers, call him Chairman as homage for his service as an officer of Filipino EPS Workers Association (FEWA) for quite a long time. Rodney Queman, was just one of the many hopefuls Pinoy Factory workers in Korea way back 2007. Due to his dedication and loyalty at work, Queman will celebrate its 15th year in South Korea this year, not with an E9 Visa, but a skilled worker visa (which is by the way very difficult to obtain), and an award.
Aside from having a skilled visa, what sets Rodney apart from other EPS workers in South Korea is his generosity to help fellow Filipinos either by organizing fund raising campaigns, giving advice to distress workers and all the kind of help you can ever think of. Despite the busy schedule at work, not to mention the level of difficulty, he dedicates his rest time to answer questions.
Especially Yong mga kababayan na laging sumusuporta sa ating FUND RAISING project mapa-Korea or Pinas man.”, Queman said in a Facebook post.
His dedication to help fellow Filipinos earned him respect that despite the fact that he is no longer the President of FEWA, they still call him Chairman and he even remains active in various Filipino communities in South Korea. Rodney got his confident in giving valuable information from his experience and vast knowledge in terms of living in South Korea. So whether it’s all about work, personal struggles, Korean language and even weather issues, he is always ready to answer your questions.
“Para sakin Masarap sa pakiramdam yong nakatulong ka kahit sa maliit na bagay.”, he added.
On June 7, 2021, Rodney will be receiving his 2021 Bagong Bayani Awards from the Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc in a virtual ceremony. Last time somebody from South Korea won this prestigious award was way back 2016, you can read the information HERE.
To Chairman Rodney Queman, Congratulations!!! With your effort and dedication, the award is well deserved. Keep it up and continue your advocacy.
